This explains what Outlier collects, why, who helps us process it, and what you can ask of us. Outlier is run by Teun Slootweg, Schotlandstraat 85, 2034 LC Haarlem, the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 98548174. Questions or requests: teun.slootweg@gmail.com.
What we collect about you
- Your account: email address and password. Passwords are stored hashed by our database provider; we never see them.
- What you tell us: your TikTok handle, niche, offer, audience, tone, script language and the competitor accounts you add.
- What you create: ideas, scripts and their settings.
- Billing: your plan, trial and renewal dates, and the IDs Stripe gives your customer record and subscription. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never receive them.
- Usage: which paid actions you run (scrapes, comment mining, ideas, scripts) and what they cost us, so we can apply your plan's limits.
- Technical logs kept by our hosting provider, such as request times and error messages.
- Only if you allow it in the cookie banner: which of our ads brought you here, the pages you visit on our site, and whether you created an account or started a trial, through Meta's pixel.
Public TikTok content we process
For the competitor accounts you add, we fetch their public videos: captions, view, like, comment, share and save counts, posting dates, public profile details, and captions TikTok makes available for the audio. Cover images are sent to our AI provider to analyze the video's opening and are not kept by us.
For the best-performing videos we also fetch public comments: the text, like and reply counts and the date. We do not store the usernames of people who comment. If you believe your public content is being processed and you want it removed, email teun.slootweg@gmail.com.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you signed up for: tracking, analysis, ideas and scripts (performance of a contract).
- To bill you and keep the records Dutch law requires (legal obligation).
- To analyze public content for our users, keep the service secure, and prevent abuse (legitimate interest).
- To measure our own ads on Facebook and Instagram, only if you allow the Meta cookie (consent).
We don't sell your data. Without your OK there are no advertising, tracking or analytics cookies. With it, there is one: Meta's, to measure our ads.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase: database and sign-in. Your data is stored in the EU (Ireland).
- Vercel: hosting of the website and app.
- Stripe: payments, subscriptions and invoices.
- Anthropic: the AI model that analyzes hooks and comments and writes ideas and scripts. It receives your profile details and the public content being analyzed.
- Apify: fetches public TikTok videos and comments for the accounts you add.
- Meta Platforms Ireland: only if you allow the cookie. Meta's pixel tells us which of our ads brought you here and whether you signed up or started a trial. We and Meta are jointly responsible for collecting and sending this data; what Meta does with it afterwards falls under Meta's own privacy policy. [Confirm the wording on joint responsibility before launch.]
Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, we rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. [Confirm per provider before launch.]
How long we keep it
- Account, profile, competitors, ideas and scripts: until you delete your account.
- Billing records: seven years, as Dutch tax law requires.
- Fetched public content: while the competitor is on your list, and deleted with it.
- Hosting logs: [retention period, e.g. 30 days].
Cookies
We always use the cookies needed to keep you signed in. Everything else waits for your choice in the cookie banner. If you allow it, Meta's pixel sets its own cookies (such as _fbp, kept up to 90 days) to measure our ads. If you say no, nothing is loaded from Meta. You can change your choice any time under “Cookie settings” at the bottom of our pages.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, and you can object to or ask us to limit how we process it. Email teun.slootweg@gmail.com and we'll respond within a month. If you're not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Changes
If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and, for important changes, email you first.
